Text Box: At around 6:15 on a Saturday morning, a group of barely awake scouts and sleepy adults drinking coffee left for a 10 mile beginner backpacking hike in Noble Canyon. The drive to the trailhead was not that bad, about an hour and a half.
After our convoy stopped and parked, we began our hike. Even though this was a beginner hike, there were still quite a few older boys (and Ventures) on it. The scenery surrounding the trail was beautiful.
We made good time on the trail and stopped for lunch. After enjoying a relaxed 45 minute lunch under a group of trees, we departed for our campsite.
Upon reaching the campsite Text Box: the troop camped at last year, we discovered that the campsite was filled with flammable weeds and grasses. Knowing we could not camp on the grasses or cook on them for fear of a fire, we scouted out the trail ahead. Within a half of a mile, we found a small area of rocky ground practically on the trail. We decided that this was good enough and pitched 15 tents on either side of the trail.
After dinner ranging from bacon cheeseburgers to Mountain House, we pitched our tents and enjoyed jokes and skits that scouts and adults performed. After the skits, we retired for the night. Morning arose quickly and we had breakfast, packed up our tents, and hit the trail.
The second day of hiking went Text Box: The Colorado Canoe Trip
Text Box: river. We canoed for about two and a half hours until we came to the rock engravings where we stopped and took a break. We got back on the river and for about three hours. We passed Castle Rock, the original site for that night's camp, and we had a brief lunch. A little while later we came to Lake Havasu. Unfortunately there was no current on the lake so the going was a bit slower. We slowly made our way to a camp site called Windsor Beach. We set up camp there. That night there was Text Box: A Parade of Lights, which is a parade with boats with lights on them. I went to bed early after a quick game of B. S. The next morning we broke camp and went to see the London Bridge, a bridge dismantled in London and brought to Lake Havasu. The Jerkwater guy came and took us and our canoes back to Park Moabi where we departed for home.

Text Box: The Colorado Canoe trip was originally scheduled for November 21, through the 23rd but due to high winds the trip was postponed two weeks. When we, meaning three parents and eight scouts set off on December 5, we were certain that the weekend
weather was going to be good. We had a six hour drive to Park Moabi, where we set up camp. The following morning we woke up around five-thirty and broke camp. The Jerkwater person, Steve came to our campsite and got us on the Text Box: Noble Canyon Backpack

Text Box: When we went biking it was great fun. I was the trek leader. There were beautiful things on the road such as flowers and trees. It was not too hard. There were some up hills and down hills, most the time it was just straight road. There was this huge hill that
was hard to bike up, but I made it along with a few of other scouts. While biking we spread apart so we had to slow down for every one, which was
good. The whole trip was a loop. We returned to the church and that is it…there is no more to be said.

Text Box: 25 Mile Bike Ride
Text Box: smoothly. We switched some
newer scouts into the trail leader position so they could complete some requirements for rank advancement. We finished the hike with no deaths or injuries at around 1:00 in the afternoon. After Thorns and Roses, we retreated to our cars where we drove back home. I would recommend this hike to any scout or adult.
