Text Box: When we departed for Fiesta Island on the 25 of October, we did not know what surprises would happen. When we arrived at Fiesta Island on Saturday, we quickly took action. We went to the life coat rack and oar rack to get supplies. We then took the swim test. After the swim test, we broke up into groups and worked on canoe skills for about 3 hours. Afterwards we ate lunch. We then pitched our tents up in our campsites. After that, we went back to work on our merit badges. Text Box: At night, we had our traditional campfire (a lot easier to light then summer camp). When we woke up on Sunday, October 25, there was lots of news (both good and bad). We learned that the Marlins won the World Series game 7. Unfortunately, we found out (assumed by heavy smoke and ash) that fires have started around the county. We prepared for the Salty Rat (or should I say Ashy Rat) and left at approximately 7:30 AM. We canoed around the bay for a couple of miles. We Text Box: ate lunch at a landing. We took many breaks coming back from lunch. When we arrived on ground, we were tired. We took down are tents and went to Dr. Kerrian to find everybody a ride home. After a hectic carpool hassle, everybody finally got home! This is a canoe training nobody will ever forget!

Text Box: Scouts and Pepi the Prawn
Text Box: Our costumes were red sweats, a gray sweatshirt and a black beanie with orange hair. We then figured out that we were carrying Pepi the Prawn (shrimp), one of the new characters in the Muppets. We all got lined up and started the parade. Luckily this year there were no difficulties, we just walked down the parade route carrying our balloon. We got to the end, took off our Text Box: costumes and deflated the balloon. The next part was fun because now we got to get our free hotdog. The last thing we did was get on the trolley back to the Old Town station and from there we got in our cars and went home. I think we all had fun at the Holiday Bowl Parade.

Text Box: On Tuesday December 30th we all gathered there at 6:15 AM so that we could get on the freeway by 6: 30, to go to the Holiday Bowl Parade. We drove to the Old Town parking lot, we had a head count, and then got on the trolley to go downtown. After getting downtown we walked toward the bay to arrive at the meeting place. There we got our costumes for our float. Text Box: Canoe Training and Salty Rat

First of all I would like to thank those scouts who wrote articles.  Without them, this  publication would not be possible.

As the new editor of Trails & Tracks I would like to make a few changes.  One new feature is the A Few Old (and Wise) Goats section (on the front page).  I hope to continue this section with each publication, adding a couple new leaders each time.  Its purpose is to help scouts to learn more about the great adult leadership of our troop.

If anyone wishes to write for the troop’s paper, talk to me at one of the meetings.  I would like to include some Scout related jokes and/or comics, but I need scouts willing to write/draw them.

I welcome all comments or critiques of the paper.
