680's History and Background

Troop 680 was founded in 1969 and is located in Rancho Bernardo, a northern community within the city of San Diego, California. We are a member of the Black Mountain District and the San Diego Imperial Council.  Our Troop is co-sponsored by Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo and Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church.  Currently, the Troop has about 40 Scouts and over 30 registered adult Scouters.

Our Scouts' Achievements – Milestones & Records

Over the last 40 years the Troop has ranked among the most active in San Diego and has a very rich tradition of outdoor activities*:

  • 132 Scouts earning their Eagle rank
  • 643 total registered Scouts
  • 146,751 miles of hiking or nearly 6 times around Earth
  • 29,180 nights of camping averaging 730 nights per year
  • 72,862 miles of cycling 
  • 60,197 miles of canoeing
* as of June 2009

What we Believe

We strive to provide a Boy Scouts of America based Scouting program that follows the national Scouting philosophy and emphasizes:

  • Developing leadership skills in our Scout youth
  • Allowing our Scouts to exercise their leadership skills 
  • Performing community service
  • Participating in an outdoor program
  • Providing opportunities for High Adventure Treks
  • Adult participation 

Visit a Troop 680 meeting

We welcome you to join us for a Scout meeting.  We meet at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church located at 17010 Pomerado Road, San Diego (meeting room is in the lower Middle School on the south side of the facility).  Meetings times for the general meeting are Monday nights from 7:00 PM to 8:30PM.
