Description of trip: This is a backpack of fairly long duration along the eastern reaches of the mountains. Starting near laguna, this trail winds its way through small stands of oak and pine while the majority of it is shoulder height scrub oak. It descends from the mountains into desert areas at scissors crossing. While the route is not very difficult, the long mileage makes it a trip for those beyond their first or second year of backpacking. Additionally, this route is part of the PCT in San Diego and is a spring break / summer trek qualifier.
