Trailbuilding

This traditional outing of the troop is an excellent opportunity for service time as well as learning. The Mataguay Connector Trail links the Scout Camp to the Pacific Crest Trail and has been under construction, segment by segment for many years under the leadership of Mr. Rob Langsdorf. The trail is nearing completion! Scouts go to an area near Mataguay Scout Reservation where they work on clearing brush, building new trail, constructing rock walls for trail support, etc. The hard work is extremely rewarding as progress from year to year can be measured. Participation earns 6 hours of community service time and High Adventure Awards! Trailbuilding is a necessary experience for hikers because it develops a respect for the effort put into creating and maintaining trails which, in turn, helps creates better and more responsible hikers.
